Ganadora de numerosos premios, entre ellos: Palma de Oro en el festival de Cannes y los Oscar a la mejor actriz, actriz de reparto y guión original.

Michael Nyman, pianista y compositor británico perteneciente al género minimalista. Además de componer bandas sonoras de películas también ha compuesto óperas y conciertos. Junto con su banda Michael Nyman Band realiza giras.

La acción se desarrolla en la Hispanoamérica del siglo XIII, en una zona cercana a las cataratas de Iguazú. El misionero jesuita padre Gabriel es aceptado por los indios guaraníes y crea la misión de San Carlos. Le sigue Rodrigo Mendoza, extraficante convertido en jesuita para redimir sus culpas.

Ennio Morricone, compositor italiano de música de cine y bandas sonoras. Su carrera empezó en los años 60 y es uno de los más prolíficos compositores con más de 500 trabajos en su haber.
